Eastern Suburbs? What The!

SO on saturday night i managed to double book myself quite impressively, but it ended up making for a really good night! i normally hate double booking myself, cos i hate to be one of those making-a-guest-star-appearance people who will rock up somewhere for 20 mins then head off somewhere better. BUT i decided to ignore this for one night, and had a ball -
EVENT NUMBER ONE: absolutely kicked butt. i mean REALLY it kicked butt - a friend from church Derek is in a band, and they had a gig in Manly - seeing as i had never seen them before i decided to be a good friend and go along, and they ROCKED! seriously if anyone in the world is reading this, pay attention! GALLERY KICKS BUTT! they were awesome! i'd classify the type of music that they play but it's just too hard - they did everything from jazz, blues, rock, they did a cover of the doors and of ray charles, it was super! anyway, that's my plug for Gallery, Derek owes me something pretty.
EVENT NUMBER TWO - so we skipped out early on the gig (once gallery were finished of course) and had to head for a farewell at clovelly (urgh such a trek. why, why must people live out in clovelly.) anyway, the deal with the farewell - my friend simon who i was at college with has gotten a gig touring the US for a year. as an MC. for the Wiggles. Ha. Toot toot chugga chugga Simon. Anyway the farewell was amusing enough cos everyone had to wear a wiggly colour, and Simon actually had an awesome Wiggles belt, lord knows where he got that.Anyways, it was a nice little reunion for some of my college people and some West Side people, and it was highly amusing to see what happens when my boyfriend meets some of my crazy actor friends. they get along dangerously well...
Anyway, the farewell got me thinking about parties - we were teasing simon a lot cos he didn't have a lot of time to hang out with us, and i realised the whole dynamic of parties really sucks for the people who are actually having them - i mean, poor simon was exhausted by the time the night was over cos he had been darting round like a madman all night trying to see everybody, and cos he is such a polite boy he wanted to walk everyone to their cars or cabs, say good night properly, getting photos with everybody etc etc. and after the place kicked us out at midnight (on a saturday night?!?! not impressed.) a few of us went to the palace at coogee bay, and that was the first time i actually got to have a conversation with him. but of course by the time we got there and had a drink blah blah blah we were buggered and wanted to go, and poor simon was quite disappointed! then i started thinking about all the parties i've had at my place for birthdays or whatever, and realised i never really enjoyed them as much as i should have, cos i'm constantly thinking is everyone here, are we ok for drinks, do we need more food, are people breaking things, oh have i greeted this person have i said goodbye to that person, no put that down etc etc and it drives me nuts!
anyway, that's a pretty extensive rant i think.
i'm going to another Gallery gig on tuesday, so i shall probably be back with more ravings.
